Woodmont Recreation Association (WRA) is a small, member-owned/operated pool located in the Woodmont neighborhood of Bon Air in Chesterfield County. The WRA has approximately 200 member families and is focused on creating a fun, family-centric environment.

The WRA is seeking a summer Pool Manager. The Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of the WRA’s summer pool season and oversees day-to-day operation, maintenance, and administration while being a visible presence to staff and members. Duties apply to the pool, building, grounds, and facilities with a specific focus on delivering a high-quality member experience. The Manager will report to, and collaborate closely with, the WRA Board of Directors.

The WRA Manager will work approximately 40 hours per week from May 15 through September 5, 2022. The successful candidate must be available to work days, nights (until 11pm), weekends, and holidays. Immediate response work may be required from time-to-time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct the day-to-day activities and operation of the WRA under the guidance and support of the WRA Board of Directors.
  • Manage the lifeguard staff to include: training, scheduling, payroll, and general oversight. Assist in interviewing/hiring if available. Provide direction to the lifeguard staff on how to perform the WRA lifeguard role.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the facilities including pool, deck, breezeway, parking lot, bathrooms, game room, snack bar, guard office, and upstairs common room.
  • Monitor all systems for proper function (pumphouse, baby pool, building interior, lighting, etc.) Troubleshoot and escalate as needed.
  • Ensure that all appropriate water, environmental, health, and safety standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate staffing for private events and ensure facilities are prepared for use at event start time. Assist in managing and cleaning up events.
  • Coordinate staffing and preparations for WRA events in collaboration with the WRA Board (band nights, 4th July, etc.). Ensure facilities are prepared in advance. Assist in managing and cleaning up events.
  • Provide regular updates to the WRA Board of Directors on operations. Provide immediate notice on any issue related to safety, member behavior, and member complaints.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver monthly in-service training to lifeguard staff.
  • Track inventory and re-order as needed.
  • Coordinate service calls (as needed)
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    – At least 18 years of age
    – Hold a valid Red Cross lifeguard certification on, or before, May 15, 2022 and maintain certification through September 5, 2022
    – Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
    – Ability to work days, nights (until 11pm), weekends, and holidays.
    – Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgements
    – Strong critical eye/attention to detail
    – Demonstrated ability leading teams
    – Must be able to walk, run, swim, jump, climb stairs, climb ladders, squat, lift     objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and reach above the head.
    – Prior lifeguarding experience preferred
    – Prior customer service experience preferred.
